2024 was a year of impact, growth, and community-driven change at the Prostate Cancer Centre. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, partners, and volunteers, we made significant strides in supporting men’s health across Alberta.
A Year of Milestones and Achievements
Celebrating 25 Years
This year marked the 25th anniversary of the Prostate Cancer Centre (PCC). For a quarter-century, we have been at the forefront of prostate cancer awareness, early detection, and patient support. We reflected on our journey and honoured the people who helped shape the PCC into what it is today.
Expanding Research and Patient Support
Our clinical and research teams experienced significant growth in 2024. We added six new studies, bringing our total to 22 active studies, helping advance prostate cancer treatment and improve patient outcomes.
In addition, the clinical team launched 10 new programs focused on in-person counseling in our newly expanded space. Programs like Caring for Couples and Caregivers and You Are Not Alone provide vital support by addressing the emotional challenges of prostate cancer, fostering open communication, and creating a sense of community for patients and their loved ones. These initiatives are essential in improving the overall well-being of those affected by prostate cancer.
The ‘Keep It In Alberta’ Campaign
In November, we launched the Keep It In Alberta campaign to fund a new MAN VAN® for Alberta. Thanks to the incredible support of our community and a $350,000 matching donation from the AGAT Foundation, we surpassed our $700,000 goal—raising a total of $873,306 to expand life-saving early detection services across the province.
Expanding the Reach of the MAN VAN®
The MAN VAN® continued to bring free PSA blood tests to men in Alberta, making early detection more accessible. From rural communities to major cities, thousands of men took charge of their health by getting tested.
Events That Made a Difference
Teeing Off for Men’s Health
Golf enthusiasts and supporters came together for four tournaments benefiting the Prostate Cancer Centre. Major golf tournaments, like Remington Charity Golf Classic and Priddis Greens Charity Classic, along with the B.A. Robinson and Perma Insurance tournaments, raised critical funds and awareness for prostate cancer research and support services.
Building a Stronger Community
From awareness events to donor recognition gatherings, 2024 was filled with moments that brought our community together. Every event, every donation, and every shared story helped us move closer to our mission: ensuring more men receive life-saving care.
Looking Ahead to 2025
As we enter a new year, we remain committed to expanding our reach, enhancing patient care, and advocating for men’s health. The generosity and dedication of our supporters make everything we do possible. Thank you for being part of our journey.
Together, we are saving lives and saving families.
